Boomerang Tournament
May 25thTwenty years? Yep, seems like only yesterday that Tom Fitzgerald hatched a
harebrained scheme to host tournaments in St. Louis. In the 1980's, we were
sponsored by the St. Louis Science Center and threw in Forest Park.For a couple of glory years in the 1990's, Tom merged the tournament with the St.
Louis Australian Festival to form a carnival atmosphere at the tournament.
Through the Australian embassy in Washington DC, Tom brought over bands,
world-famous didgeridoo players, and other entertainers from Australia.
Competitors threw to the sound of live music while street performers did
their thing amongst the circles. We held the Nationals here in 1990 and the
World Boomerang Championships here in 1998.
