33rd Annual Gateway Classic May 30
The long-awaited 33rd Annual Gateway Classic Boomerang Tournament will return to Konarcik Park in Waterloo, Illinois on Sunday, May 30, 2021.
The USBA has voted to allow tournaments this year, so this will be a sanctioned event! At this point, I am committing only to hosting the competition in the park, and trying to maintain COVID safety protocols on the field.
Typically, what sets the Gateway Classic apart is the long weekend of fun and food and beverage at Chicago Bob’s house, with a tournament thrown in as a bonus! Depending on where the country/state and the competitors and families are with COVID restrictions and vaccines and personal comfort levels, that will dictate how much of the extracurricular activities at Chicago Bob’s house will occur.
Hopefully, we can have the usual weekend of throwing and food and pool and hot tub, but there will at least be a tournament and local motels and some food/awards ceremony, maybe on the field. More details to come! Can’t wait to see throwers in bullseyes again!
